A
brief history
The LNER Rifle Club was formed in 1942 by members of the LONDON
and NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY COMPANY at Chesterfield, and a room over
the old stable block at the Central Station was converted into a
rifle range. Subscription 10/- (50p) per annum, ammunition 2/6 (12.5p)
per 100. In 1948 the club formed a pistol section and became the
LNER Rifle and Pistol Club. Then in 1997 Archery was introduced
into the club.
The club now has
a purpose built range facility at Hepthorne Lane, Tupton, complete
with 20/25m indoor range for .22 rifle / archery / 9 point air gun
range and a club room. Outdoor range for Black powder, centrefire
carbine, .22 and Archery at 25 / 50 / 100m.
